"In this exceptional exhibit, Sé Sullivan courageously uses their own personal story to interrogate the medical industrial complex's deep investments in maintaining the gender binary. The work is inspiring in its honesty and complexity. Sullivan challenges us to grapple with a violent history and to recognize and celebrate queer resistance in the face of that violence." "In 2019 I had the great privilege of collaborating with Sé on an exhibition at CIIS titled "(Ab)Normal & (Un)Natural: Performing Identity and Engendering Resistance." The experience was wonderful at every turn; Sé was generous and thoughtful in envisioning and realizing a show and associated programming guided by a clear passion for liberatory pedagogy and practice"

"Dr. Sullivan brings something to the lecture hall that other professors rarely bring ... their genuine, authentic self. One learns about other people's interventions into the status quo, but in the case of Dr. Sullivan; they ARE the intervention."

“I have had the privilege to attend a few lectures and presentations led by Dr. Sullivan. Their ability to create and navigate complex and nuanced conversations is excellent. Dr. Sullivan's personable style makes it so one is more able to be in the discomfort some of these conversations require. I have learned so much already and look forward to more chances to continue the process and ongoing work. I highly recommend them for anyone wanting to engage with topics of race, gender, sexuality, identity and all the ways they intersect across lines of difference”

“Dr. Se Sullivan is the kind of scholar-activist whose work resonates with audiences because of both their deep well of knowledge and their skills as a storyteller. Since 2017 they have been a regular guest lecturer in my anthropology classes on topics of sex and gender, colonialism, racism, and medical anthropology. In 2020 and 2021 their research on the medicalization of gender was featured in the Behavioral Sciences Department colloquium series. Their virtual talk, “We Just Want to Be: From Dissertation to Documentary,” was the most well-attended lecture in the series, with nearly 100 students, faculty, and staff tuning in from City College of San Francisco, San Francisco State University, UC Berkeley, Mills College, Sonoma State”
